So in the beginning of this month (Jan. 2012) I decided to go to a professional to have my hair cut. For two years I hadn't been to a salon and this was major. This hair cut meant a lot to me, it will be the first time that I would be COMPLETELY natural with no premanent color on my strands. I knew that I was going to get my hair cut for months, I just had to prepare my myself mentally (lol) since I was attached to the length of my hair and prepare my hair.
When I say "prepare my hair" a lot was involved. Since May 2011 I have been weening myself from the flat iron (this has been hard) because for years I had been straightening my hair and I was ADDICTED smh. For healthier hair I wanted to reduce the amount of breakage so that when I got my 2nd big chop it would be too much. The stylist cut 3 inches away from my hair which was a little past my shoulder blade and at first I was hurting! I happened so fast smh. But over the weeks I have grown to love my new cut. I have been looking for new ways to wear my hair without heat or with little heat and I have been having fun. I have also noticed that my hair is growing back fast. My advice: Let go... of the flat iron, and look forward... to go getting healthier hair.
